‘Munich-Riem 1970’ Commemoration Site
40 relatives of the victims travelled to Munich from Israel to mark the 55th anniversary of the Palestinian terrorist attack of 10 February 1970 at the former airport in Munich-Riem.
The opening speeches at this international commemorative event were given by the Mayor of Munich Dieter Reiter and Stefan Vilsmeier, the founder of the company ‘Brainlab’, whose company headquarters is now located on the site of the attack. The work of art by Alicja Kwade and a memorial plaque erected by the City of Munich with a link to the website developed by Public History Munich, form the central components of the ‘Munich-Riem 1970’ commemorative site.
The commemorative site was created over a period of several years in cooperation with family members of victims of the attack.
